NEW YORK (PIX11) — The stretch of cloudy days is finally coming to a close. Before the skies clear out, a cold front will bring a few showers to start the day on Friday.
The sun may break through the clouds in the afternoon, but it will not clear completely until Saturday.
Thursday evening should remain to be dry. Overnight showers will develop, but it will be generally on the light side. Overnight lows will be around 40 degrees.
The shower risk will continue early on Friday morning. As skies will still be generally cloudy early in the day, local groundhogs across the region may have a hard time seeing their shadow, indicating an early spring. The threat of lingering showers will diminish, and we might see the sun break through the clouds in the afternoon. Expect highs to be in the mid-40s.
A breeze will be around, making it feel quite cold early on Saturday. Wind chills may be in the 20s in the morning. The good news is that the sun will finally be out as high pressure arrives and settles around for the weekend. Expect highs to be in the lower 40s.
It remains to be sunny on Sunday. Winds will calm down, and temperatures will moderate into the mid-40s.
Next week is shaping up to be dry as well. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny, with temperatures generally staying around the low to mid-40s.
