EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. (PIX11) — After reopening a 16-year-old cold case, police have charged two people in connection to a 2008 homicide in Ewing Township, N.J., according to officials.
Officials said a tip in March 2023 led to reopening the case. The tip helped officials charge Breyon Goodman, 36 and Jason Howard, 41, for their alleged roles.
On May 9, 2008, police received a call that Leroy Julious was on the ground bleeding. When police arrived, they said they found a vehicle parked in front of a home surrounded by several people, including Howard. People in the area who saw what happened showed the cops responding, where Julious was on the ground in a lot nearby.
Julious had blood on his face and neck and was suffering from severe head trauma, according to officials. Julius also had his pockets “turned inside out” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation showed that Julious might have been a robbery target. He was known to carry money and was missing his wallet when he was found.
Officials also said an affidavit said that Julious was allegedly dragged from a house nearby where the attack on him started into the gravel lot.
“For 16 years, the senseless, cruel death of Leroy Julious has gone unsolved,” said Attorney
General Matthew Platkin. “But law enforcement did not forget and did not give up. We
hope the charges bring a measure of relief to the victim’s grieving loved ones.”
Goodman was arrested on April 15, and Howard is already incarcerated in Rhode Island for an unrelated crime, according to officials. Howard and Goodman were both charged with the following:
“We are continuing to investigate this murder and are asking for the public’s help,” Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said. “Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact MCHTF
detectives at (609) 989-6406 or mchtftips@mercercounty.org.”
