MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The NYPD is clearing out a protest encampment on the NYU campus Friday morning, according to NYPD Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry.
“In the event the protesters do not vacate the site voluntarily, we request the NYPD take enforcement action accordingly up to and including arrest,” NYU administrators wrote to the NYPD.
The protesters began camping out on campus on April 26, according to NYU.
The clear-out comes after it was revealed an NYPD officer accidentally fired their gun while dispersing protesters in Hamilton Hall at Columbia University.
Around 300 people were arrested at Columbia and City College on Tuesday night, according to the NYPD.
