NEW YORK (PIX11) – A group of men have robbed 13 New York City businesses of thousands of dollars since mid-April, police said on Wednesday.
The robbery spree began on April 15. Five men entered a bodega at 3661 Broadway in Manhattan and fled with $1,300 in cash. During the encounter, one of the individuals displayed a firearm in his waistband, police said.
On separate occasions and in one day on April 23, the men also hit four different Bronx businesses and took $9,000 worth of cash, marijuana, and tobacco products, police said.
In one of those robberies, the five suspects entered a deli on Boston Road, according to the NYPD. The group jumped over the counter and removed $2,000 in cash and $400 worth of tobacco products, police said. Again, one of the men displayed a firearm, police said.
Hours later, the same group entered a store on East Tremont Avenue, displayed a gun to an employee, and removed $200 from the register, according to the NYPD.
Less than an hour later, they entered a store on Grant Avenue. One of the men displayed a gun, and the robbers took $700 in cash and $700 worth of marijuana-related products, police said.
No injuries were reported related to the robberies, the authorities said.
