Rare failure: IDF misses camera theft at Lebanese
border
Yediot Ahronot reported that it took hours for IDF forces in the Northern Command to realize that surveillance cameras near the Fatma gate close to the northern city of Metula had been stolen last Wednesday. According to the report, the IDF noticed the damage to the new fence more than five hours after it occurred and thus significantly delaying the investigation of the incident. It was also reported that the army closed off large areas in the region and checked whether Hezbollah terrorists had penetrated into Israeli territory. Head of the Northern Command, Major General Uri Gordin, admitted that the IDF had made mistakes failing to assess the damaged fence and the destruction of security cameras in a timely fashioin. "This was a mistake that is being investigated. At the end of the investigation, lessons will be learned," an IDF spokesperson was quoted as saying. https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/374263
