PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A 16-year-old girl was with a group of people in a subway tunnel when she was fatally struck by a train in Brooklyn Tuesday, an MTA source said.
The girl was hit and killed by a subway train near the 4th Avenue-9th Street station in Park Slope around 5:10 p.m., according to the FDNY.
The train operator saw a group of four to five “kids” running on the catwalk in the tunnel and applied the emergency brakes, the MTA source said. However, the girl was struck by the train and later found dead.
The incident is among a series of deaths in the New York City subway this week.
On Wednesday, a man was fatally struck by a subway train at the Grand Central–42nd Street station in Manhattan, officials said.
On Tuesday, a person was hit and killed by a train in Brooklyn at the Beverley Road station in Flatbush, police said.
Another person was struck and killed by a train in Manhattan at the 42nd Street–Bryant Park/Fifth Avenue subway station in Midtown Tuesday morning, according to the MTA.
Police said that none of these incidents appeared to be criminal in nature.
On Monday, a man was fatally pushed in front of an oncoming subway train in East Harlem, authorities said.
