EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A Queens man charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a laundromat owner in Brooklyn will be sentenced on Tuesday.
Louis Mercado, 48, was one of five suspects accused of shooting and killing 37-year-old Money Perkins inside his laundromat on Clarendon Street in East Flatbush last December.
Mercado and the other suspects, all seen on surveillance video, pulled guns on Perkins, according to authorities. When Perkins tried to get the gun from one of them, he was shot, police said.
The men then stole his gold chain, according to authorities.
Mercado is charged with murder, robbery, conspiracy, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. Ronnie Butler, 46, Shaleek Riddick, 19, Diante Stinson, 20, and a 16-year-old were also arrested and charged in the incident.
Perkins left behind a wife and three children.
