MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least four people were arrested early Thursday morning during an ongoing protest at Columbia University, according to the NYPD.
One juvenile who was arrested was handed over to their parents, police said.
Protests began Wednesday morning, with hundreds of students pitching tents on campus, when Columbia University leadership faced Congress during a hearing about antisemitism, according to the Columbia Daily Spectator.
The protesters are calling for Columbia University to divest from companies with ties to Israel, the school newspaper reported.
Members of Congress accused Columbia University President Nemat Shafik of not taking enough action against antisemitism at the school.
