NEW YORK (PIX11) — The CUNY Creative Arts Team and the Mayor’s Office for Media and Entertainment have partnered up with NY is Music to bring Sound Thinking NYC back for the summer.
Sound Thinking NYC is a free four-week program for high school students that gives them a chance to explore careers in the music industry. New York City Public Schools students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grade in the fall of 2024 are eligible to apply.
Free lunch and MetroCards will be given to students for the duration of the program.
Students “will learn more about the tools and equipment of music production, including what’s needed for Broadway shows, concerts, and what audio engineers do. The program will help (you) network, find paid internship opportunities, and earn college credit,” according to Jobs NYC.
After graduating from the program, students will receive an invitation to participate in events during the school year, the chance to apply for paid summer internships for the following summer, and the chance to take free college credit courses at CUNY during their junior and/or senior year of high school.
Applications are due by May 6. Sessions will run from July 8 to Aug. 2. Click here to apply.
Jobs NYC is a new website with the goal of making jobs more accessible. The portal is part of a three-pronged plan outlined by Adams.
